Unit 7 Here you are

I. Teaching content:

Today I’m going to talk about part A &B of unit 7, fun with English, book 1, grade 2. This lesson includes two parts: part A learn to say and part B look and learn. In part A, it mainly deals with the dialogue about how to order. And in part B, it provides some snacks for students.

 

II. Teaching aims:

  1. Aims on the knowledge
  1. To enable the Ss to understand and speak: “A pie please. Here you are. Thank you.”
  2. To enable the Ss to read the dialogue with right intonation.
  3. To enable the Ss to understand, speak with right intonation and identify: a pie, a cake, a hamburger and a hot dog.
  1. Aims on the abilities

(1) To develop Ss’ abilities of listening and speaking.

(2) To train the Ss’ ability of working in groups.

(3) To foster Ss’ abilities of communication in daily life.

3. Aims on the emotion

(1) To foster Ss’ consciousness of good co-operation.

(2) To foster Ss’ good manners in public places.

 

III. Difficult points:

  1. The pronunciation of hamburger, hot, here, thank.
  2. The usage of the dialogue.

 

IV. Teaching methods:

As we all know: the main instructional aims of learning English in primary school is to cultivate pupils’ basic abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson I’ll mainly use “Task-based” teaching method and “provide situation” teaching method. That is to say, I will let the Ss learn in particular situations, finish a task by replacing words to help the Ss to get a better understanding of the structure of the dialogue. I will arrange four kinds of activities: chanting, little train, guessing game, pair work. And in this lesson PPT will be needed.

 

V. Teaching procedures

Step1. Warming up and revision

    1. say a rhyme: Sing in the trees
    2. free talk

What’s this?

    It’s a/an … (an ant, a butterfly, a tree, a flower)

    What are those?

    They are … ( pencils, books, trees, chairs, flowers)

    1. pair work

A: What are those?

     B: They are…

  (Purpose: It is important to form a better English learning surrounding for the Ss by chanting and doing some total physical response and at the same time it provides situations to review learned knowledge for the next step.)

   Step2. Presentation

  1. lead in: Have you ever been to a snack bar? Such as KFC and Pizza Hut.

       What do you like? Do you like this? (PPT) Today, let’s go to a snack bar and order what you like.

  1. look and learn: first, let’s have a look. What’s in the snack bar?

     Guessing game: Guess, what’s this?

     Little train

     Game: play the piano 我大声,你小声,我小声,你大声;whisper

     What’s missing?

(Purpose: To present the key words one by one is much easier for the Ss to learn and grasp the meanings. Games can arouse the Ss’ interest in English learning.)

  1. learn to say: After looking at the menu, have you found what do you want to eat?

   (role play)

  T: assistant    Ss: customer

T: Hello.

  Ss: Hello.

  T: Do you like a pie.

Ss: Yes.

T: Here you are. (We use it when we give somebody something.)

Ss: Thank you. (foster Ss to have good manners)

S1/S2/S3: assistant    T&Ss: customer

  S1/S2/S3: Hello.

  T&Ss: Hello.

  T: A pie, please. (We use it when we order something)

  S1/S2/S3: Here you are.

  T&Ss: Thank you.

Boys: assistant      Girls: customer

Girls: A pie, please.

  Boys: Here you are.

  Girls: Thank you.

  (exchange)

Group1~2: A pie, please.

  Group3~4: Here you are.

  Group1~2: Thank you.

  (exchange)

Replace.

  A ___, please.

  Here you are.

  Thank you.

(Purpose: Role play and Task-based teaching method is used here to develop Ss’ ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained.)

Step3. Consolidation

 Read part A&B together.

 Game: 同福客栈

Step4. Assignment

 Listen to the tape and read part A and part B.

 (Purpose: Revision is so important that Ss should speak English as much as they in class or after class. It is necessary for the Ss to do some extensive exercises after class to consolidate the knowledge they learned.)
